The New York Times offers 10-week summer internships to undergraduate and graduate college students. Apply for a 2017 newsroom summer internship at The New York Times by completing the application form.

The salary for all internships is about $1,000 a week. For those who want it, housing in New York is available in the dormitories of New York University at rates ranging from about $320 to $400 per week, depending on type of accommodation. The 2017 program will begin on Monday, June 5, with three days of orientation.

The deadline to submit an application for the 2017 summer internship program is 11:59 p.m. New York time on Oct. 31, 2016. Information about specific internships can be found by clicking on the links below. Individuals may apply for more than one internship.

The visual journalism program, covering graphicsart design, page design and photography, is called the Thomas Morgan Internship.

The copy editing internship program is coordinated through the Dow Jones News Fund Copy Editing program.

The audience development internship is in the newsroom, working with The Times’s social media editors.

The interactive news internship, for those who are familiar with one or two front-end or back-end languages and frameworks, involves working alongside developers, designers, and other journalists of The New York Times to build Web applications for coverage of special projects, as well as breaking news.

The audio internship and video internship offer the opportunity to work with the award-winning journalists of The Times’s audio and video units.

The reporting internship in New York is called the James Reston Reporting Fellowship, and the reporting internship in Washington, D.C., is named the David E. Rosenbaum Reporting Internship. Both are limited to college seniors and graduate students.
