Position Description

Observe, learn, and participate as you follow the publishing process of a book, from first edits to final proofreading to sending a completed book to press. In the process, you’ll assist with “cold” proofreading, copy-to-copy proofreading, occasional fact checking and sources verification, pre-press checks, and blueline checks. You may also write advertising copy (“blurbs”) for the covers of upcoming books.

Required Skills

This internship is designed for undergraduate or graduate English majors preferably in at least junior or senior level of coursework with editing minor or other related minor and/or previous editing experience. Must have exceptional proofreading and communication skills and pass an in-house editing test with a score of 80% or higher.

Additional Information

This is a paid internship opportunity ($7.25/hr) that requires approximately 24 hours per week during regular business hours for 15 weeks, starting on September 6, 2016 and ending on December 16, 2016.
