Come Discover Congressional Internships

We are pleased to announce our upcoming Internship Information Series. Join us to explore internship opportunities for all majors, both local and outside of Utah. All majors are invited to attend.

Our first presentation will be offered by Josh Emfield, Military Advisor and Director of Operations for Congressman Jason Chaffetz. Mr. Emfield will explore what congressional internships are like both here in the Provo office and in the Washington, DC office. These internships work well for most majors, and most offices are eager to welcome students from a wide range of majors. Please join us on Friday, October 14that 2 pm for this exciting opportunity in 948 SWKT.

What type of work is available in a Washington, DC congressional office?

Congressional interns compile research on legislative issues, facilitate tours of the US Capitol, attend congressional hearings, meet with constituent and lobbyist groups, and answer constituent emails and phone calls for the DC office.

What experience will I gain if I intern in Provo?

Local interns for local congressional offices often organize the youth award program, conduct research, compile social media analytics, assist with town hall meetings or help with constituent casework.  We are a lean, efficient office and we rely heavily on our interns to do substantive work that is integral to the Congressman’s efforts.  Upon completion of these internships, many students obtain meaningful employment with our office or with other prestigious organizations.
