Who we are: Bonneville International has been a leader in broadcasting for over 50 years, with a mission to build up, connect, inform and celebrate communities and families across our markets. We currently own and operate 14 radio stations in Seattle, Phoenix, Denver and Salt Lake City, along with the NBC Affiliate TV station, KSL TV 5 in Salt Lake. We are proud of our history, and we want talented people to join us as we continue to grow! Position: We are pleased to announce the availability of a social media internship for “Studio 5”, lifestyle/talk show airing weekday afternoons on KSL Television. We are looking for students who are interested in a NON-PAID learning opportunity, where they can extend their communications education beyond the classroom. The position is ideal for the student interested in pursuing a career in digital marketing or social media. 

The internship will cover a quarter/semester period with approximately 20 hours per week. The intern, the intern supervisor, and the intern’s academic advisor will arrange the schedule. 

Purpose: Under the direction of the assigned internship supervisor, this KSL/Studio 5 Social Media Internship is designed to provide students with a strong interest in digital marketing and broadcast communications an opportunity to be involved with the daily production and promotion of a television lifestyle show. Assignments might include: maintaining show social media accounts, updating website content, writing topic promotions and teases, contributing and researching story ideas, and scheduling guests. Additional projects/assignments may be made available. 

Qualifications:

  • Interns must be registered at a university, college, community college or vocational-technical institute on a full-time basis
  • Working toward a career in digital media or broadcast communications
  • In good academic standing and possess knowledge of current events
  • Organized, able to meet deadlines and be a self-starter
  • Proven ability to be precise and accurate
  • Good writing, production and conversational skills to transmit information clearly and efficiently
  • Work effectively in team environment
  • Able to maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients
  • Proven ability to handle stress
  • Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
  • Must sign and abide by the Internship Agreement
  • Preference will be given to students of Junior/Senior status or in the last year of a community college or vocational-technical program

Physical Demands:

  • Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Receive, process and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively
  • Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination
  • Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion

  • Letter from applicant’s university/college/school verifying arrangement of credit for internship (must be submitted before internship begins
