Woosh Productions is an independent production company that produces documentary films and feature narratives for commercial networks, and public television, as well as for the education market, digital distribution, and theatrical release. Woosh is developing in partnership with historian Michael Homer, DESK TOP HISTORY — producing compelling video narratives of events and people, past and present, that have helped to shape Utah’s history.

Responsibilities

Woosh Productions is seeking an independent and self-motivated research intern to assist in archival research for documentary films in development and production. He or she will work on multiple fronts: television, news outlets, and the University of Utah Marriot Library archives department to uncover information, photography, videography, etc. about various film projects.

The intern will report directly to the Archival Research Team Leader and is responsible for various aspects, including but not limited to:

  • Highly organized, resourceful, and dependable with excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Co-ordinate the research process with other team members.

A good Archival intern will have the flexibility to dedicate enough time and effort to contribute useful information about the subject matter. Internship credit is awarded upon successful completion of project.

Qualifications

  • Experience in archival history research and resources.
  • Computer and technology literate — familiarity with MSWord, Excel.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize to ensure that all assignments are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Common sense, dependability, discretion, and attention to detail are required.
  • Current pursuit of, or completion of, Bachelor’s degree in history, library science, family history, archival studies, English, or other information or research-related field.
  • Knowledge of local Salt Lake City history preferred.
