The Utah Governors officeGovernor’s Office has an opening for a Communication/PR Intern for Fall 2017 (late August to early December). This position will offer an array of experiences in communications and public relations in a fast-paced and rewarding professional environment. Interns will have the unique opportunity to attend media events with Governor Herbert and Lt. Governor Cox, plan and execute strategy and events, author news releases, provide social media content and assist in speechwriting/correspondence while learning about the workings of the Governor’s Office and state government.

Schedule is negotiable – approximately 20 hours per week. Start and end dates will be negotiated and are based on school schedules.

Qualifications include:
Excellent writing and editing skills
Computer competency
Great interpersonal communication skills
An interest in public affairs and/or politics
Ability to problem solve, think creatively, and complete tasks on time
Consistently demonstrate initiative and responsibility
Public relations/communications, political science or related major preferred, senior or junior level preferred
Students who must complete an internship as part of their degree program are preferred
