Job Description and Requirements

Marketing and Promotions

  • Executes marketing campaigns and plans events depending on expertise
  • Works with appropriate TOU/LOC staff to support campaigns targeted towards key audiences
  • Works with TOU staff to determine appropriate customized programs and strategies for various key audiences
  • Works with TOU staff and marketing team to oversee development and distribution of key collateral materials including but not limited to the following:
    • Mike and The Bike activity books
    • Hotel Kits
    • Stage posters
    • Map guides
    • Volunteer flyers
    • Spectator guide
  • Attend local festivals, fairs and celebrations to promote the TOU and encourage host city volunteer recruitment (may include weekend and evening hours)
  • Travel may be required
  • Impact awareness/attendance by developing, supporting and executing grassroots marketing activities
  • Provides coordination and project management to ensure event success
  • Experience in customer service or other people-oriented fields desired
  • Strong communications skills and out-going personality

Events

  • Coordinate and work with TOU staff to coordinate all aspects of the Tour of Utah Team Presentation and VIP Reception (August 4)
    • View site location
    • Manage run of show
    • Manage event volunteers
    • Assist with set-up, logistics and coordination which may include but not limited to:
      • Decoration, signage, check-in
  • Coordinate and work with TOU staff to coordinate all aspects of the Tour of Utah Tour de France viewing parties (July)
    • Securing site locations
    • Coordinating food and beverage
    • Event outreach
  • Coordinate Ultimate Challenge Pasta Party and VIP Event (August 10)
    • Coordinate set up with venue
    • Manage guest check in
  • Coordinate Tour of Utah Post-party event (August 12)
    • Secure Venue
    • Coordinate catering
    • Manage check-in process
  • Additional Events include
    • Salt Lake Marathon Bike Tour (April 21)
    • Huntsman 140 (June 16)
    • Tour de France Viewing Party (July TBD)
    • Snowbird Hill Climb (July 28)

Hospitality — Start Cities

  • Pre-event assistance as requested
  • Support Hospitality Manager as requested
  • Help load-in/out and set-up/take down hospitality tents and areas, including but not limited to: filling beverage barrels, clean-up, clear tables, trash removal
  • Assist with decoration, signage, furniture
  • Will require some physical exertion — emptying and carrying trash bags, moving supplies and equipment
  • Oversee operation of Tour Tracker feed in VIP Hospitality
  • Assist with hospitality check-in
  • Travel with TOU required (August 3-12)

Street Team Promotional Efforts (as required)

  • Attend local festivals, fairs and celebrations to promote the TOU and encourage host city volunteer recruitment (may include weekend and evening hours)
    • Travel may be required
  • Impact awareness/attendance by developing, supporting and executing grassroots marketing activities

Administrative

  • Outreach to local bike shops, clubs, organizations
  • City notifications — post at local businesses, neighborhoods, etc.
  • Assist LOCs to update and maintain resource pages
  • Assemble VIP gift bags & volunteer product
  • Administrative duties as needed or required

Number of Hours (weekend and holidays hours required)

  • April: 10-15 hours per week
  • May – June: 15 – 20 hours per week
  • July: 20 — 25 hours per week
  • August: 50 hours (event week)
  • August: 10-15 hours per week (wrap up)

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Event planning and logistic experience beneficial
  • Project an active and social lifestyle
  • Maintain professional conduct at all events
  • Strong work ethic, and open to new ideas
  • Highly coachable team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Social media experience beneficial
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Database and Excel proficiency
