BYUtv BREAK-SCHEDULING ASSISTANT (Job ID 76768)

Description of Duties: Unique opportunity to join the on-air Break and Short Form scheduling team of an exciting and growing worldwide television network! The successful candidate will work closely with the Scheduling Supervisor in crafting and scheduling programming breaks for BYUtv and BYUtv Global. Create and maintain a monthly list of needed promotional items. Work closely with visual promotions editors in assigning and tracking promotional assets. Preview BYUtv Break Content.

Skills and Qualifications: This position will assist the BYUtv Break and Short Form Content department with various duties including scheduling promotional breaks and short form content for BYUtv and BYUtv Global. Good writing, editing and spelling skills are required. Qualified candidates must be assertive, deadline-oriented, organized, demonstrate concise verbal and written communication skills and possess a keen attention to detail. The ability to “own” a process and/or project from start to finish is necessary. Interest in and ability to learn new computer programs quickly as well as mid-level experience with Microsoft Office, Excel and other database programs is helpful. Interest and/or experience in television broadcasting preferred.

Due to the extensive training process, longevity is preferred.

Must be able to work 3-5 hour blocks in a day, Monday through Friday.


 

BYU MARRIOT WRITER AND SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST (Job ID 77771)

The award-winning external relations team at the BYU Marriott School of Business is looking for students with excellent writing skills to join its staff. Positions are open for winter semester.

Students will not just be given assignments, they will be mentored one-on-one with seasoned communications professionals. They will have the opportunity to interface with inspiring faculty, students, alumni, and other friends of the school to tell stories through their writing. Students will also be involved in supporting and growing BYU Marriott social channels.

Daily responsibilities include writing and editing stories for a wide variety of media outlets (news releases, features, newsletters, annual reports, and Marriott Alumni Magazine) as well as advising on content for digital channels (social media and websites).

This is the perfect position for dynamic students looking for hands-on communications experience (can count for PR/journalism internship credit). Prospective candidates must be enthusiastic, organized, and creative self-starters.

Candidates should:

  • Have excellent writing skills (inverted pyramid writing required).
  • Have strong interpersonal and interviewing skills.
  • Have completed PR, journalism, or editing courses (required).
  • Be familiar with AP style and/or Chicago style.
  • Be familiar with current and engaging social media trends.
  • Have the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Be self-motivated, creative, and interested in business.

 

STUDENT RADIO PRODUCER (Job ID 76743

Description of Duties: Top of Mind is a daily, news interview show that airs nationally on Sirius XM 143 and streams at www.byuradio.org/topofmind. The Radio Producer works on a variety of projects that related to the production and the marketing of a daily live radio show that covers a wide range of topics. The position requires an interest in ideas, attention to detail, flexibility, and an eagerness to learn new skills. Producers will be responsible for working with teams to develop, research and deliver live or pre-recorded programming. Duties: Scanning news and research for interesting topics; PITCHING SEGMENT IDEAS TO TOP OF MIND EDITORIAL STAFF; Finding and booking appropriate guests; Researching and framing SUPPORT materials for interviews; Writing scripts for HOST TO USE ON THE AIR; Other duties as assigned.
