Position Description
The publishing internship at Deseret Book is an exciting opportunity to learn the ins and outs of publishing. What we are offering — apart from your hourly wage — is an internship that will provide real experience in working with one of the oldest publishers in history. You will gain experience and skills that will set you apart from the hundreds of other candidates when competing for your first “real” job.
As our publishing intern, you will assist in manuscript and audio reviews, create and research content for various platforms and products, provide support to book product directors and managers, draft product documents, and track deadlines. You will gain a greater understanding of the entire publishing process from initial acquisition to delivering the final product.

Required Skills
Applicants should be majoring in English, communications, or editing and publishing, preferably in junior or senior level of coursework. Must have excellent communication skills, a professional and proactive demeanor, be detail oriented, and have an understanding of the characteristics of good writing. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in manuscript review, short form writing, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Additional Information
This is a paid internship opportunity ($10/hr) that requires approximately 40 hours per week during regular business hours for 15 weeks, starting April 19, 2019 and ending August 9, 2019.
