The Family Support Center is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization providing human services to Salt Lake County residents. Our mission is to Protect Children, Strengthen Families, and Prevent Child Abuse. Our programs include Crisis Nurseries, Counseling Services, In-Home Family Mentoring, Education Classes, LifeStart Village, and Adoption Respite. Grant Writing and Development Intern
The Family Support Center receives funding from a variety of sources including government, corporate donations, private foundations, individual giving, and fundraising events. Grants are paramount for supporting our programs and fulfilling our mission.
Duties:
- Work with the fundraising team to locate and write grant proposals
- Responsible for creating a calendar of available grants and deadlines
- Update fundraising database
- Help develop a donor retention program
- Write thank you letters to existing donors
- Engage in event planning and implementation when applicable
Qualifications:
- Excellent writing and research skills
- Proficient in basic computer programs: MS Office
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work proactively within a team as well as independently
Fundraising Events and Marketing Intern
The Family Support Center receives funding from a variety of sources including government, corporate donations, private foundations, individual giving and fundraising events. The Family Support Center currently facilitates two fundraising events every year: the Annual Cherish the Child Gala held in September, and a Stroller Walk for Child Abuse Awareness Month held in April.
Duties:
- Works with development team and assist with planning and logistics of fundraising events
- Research new fundraising opportunities
- Assist with events database management
- Work closely with the development team to ensure all thank you letters, sponsor letters and tax acknowledgments are completed in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Excellent writing and research skills
- Proficient in basic computer programs: MS Office
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work proactively within a team as well as independently
- Basic event planning experience a plus
