Advising Intern

PURPOSES: The Advising Internship is a project-based internship centered on improving the student experience in the course planning and educational path systems. With students in over 100 countries, BYU-Pathway Worldwide has a need to develop a unique communication system that can serve a diverse and growing student population. The Advising Intern plays a crucial role in helping the advising team design the communication plan, write and create content for answering student questions, and helping to education students about their options.The internship is a four-month position, full-time position, located in Salt Lake City with no benefits and no stipend for housing. The salary is $13.50 per hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend meetings with Advising Services Manager and collaborate with related departments
  • Create content/communication for coursework and educational path guides that can be provided for students
  • Work with advisors to determine frequently asked questions and to better understand the student experience
  • Think like a student in order to anticipate student needs in designing and authoring the potential outlets of information, including email, portal, and other tools
  • Understand and connect with a unique user base in order to determine where communication should be inserted

QUALIFICATIONS:Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation. They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.

  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Desired Majors: Communications, English, Journalism, Business, Marketing, Psychology, or other relevant majors
  • Strong writing and reporting skills
  • Responsible, reliable, and accountable
  • Able to complete projects thoroughly and on time with minimal supervision
  • Excellent project organization and management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Highly detail-oriented and mindful of others’ needs
  • Strong ability to prioritize competing tasks, demands, and responsibilities
  • Ability to provide high quality work under pressure and deadlines

WORTHINESS QUALIFICATION: Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.

Knowledge Base Intern

PURPOSES: The Knowledge Base Intern focuses on improving the outward-facing knowledge base for BYU-Pathway Worldwide’s Student Services. This intern will be working directly with the Student Services Coordinator and team, the Data Analytics team, the Communications team, and other areas as needed. The Knowledge Base Intern’s work will primarily be in project management and organization, assisting with clarifying and providing access to various informative articles for both students and teachers. The internship is a four-month position located in Salt Lake City with no benefits and no stipend for housing. The salary is $13.50 per hour. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Knowledge Base team to get articles from inside the system and make them outward facing 
  • Monitor the progress of each article 
  • Coordinate with the Communications team for article language 
  • Coordinate with the Data Analytics team and collaborate on joint information and apply it in a meaningful way 
  • Potential testing of information receival by students 
  • Understand and connect with a unique user base

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

  • Strong ability to prioritize competing tasks, demands, and responsibilities 
  • Strong ability to balance deference and initiative, as well as apply feedback from others 
  • Ability to provide high quality work under pressure and deadlines
