Role Description

Are you a current University student looking for a flexible internship where you can build your marketing skills and advance your career? We are a startup home security and automation company looking for a driven intern to join our team and provide creative ideas to help achieve our goals. You will be a valuable member of our team and not just another body in a large office. Under the direction of the Marketing Manager, you will also gain the skills needed to continue to be successful in your studies and future career. This is a great opportunity in a growing company for university students looking to build their skills on a flexible, part-time basis with future opportunities for advancement. We’d love someone who might want to stick around after the internship and move up within our marketing department!
You will use analytics to make decisions to drive organic traffic to our website and other points of contact on the customer journey. You will have administrative duties in developing and implementing marketing strategies and we’ll teach you how to do it! As a content creator, you will collaborate with the Marketing Manager to support any marketing needs. Your insightful contribution will help develop, expand, and maintain our marketing channels. This position will help you acquire marketing skills and provide you with knowledge of various content marketing strategies.
Responsibilities
  • Create written and visual content (basic graphic design) for website, social media, and email campaigns (Writing blogs and social media content is 80% of this job!)
  • Perform market analysis and research
  • Support the marketing manager in daily administrative tasks
  • Manage and update CRM and email lists
  • Help organize internal and external marketing events
  • Build web pages (no coding required)
Required Skills
  • Currently pursuing a related degree (Marketing, Communication, Journalism, English, Writing & Rhetoric). If you’re a design student, please attach writing samples
  • Strong sense of curiosity and desire to learn (we can teach you most everything you need to know—you just have to be a willing participant)
  • Professional drive and presence when needed, but also possess a great sense of humor (we’re all jokes around here)
  • Honest and trustworthy
  • Not afraid of a friendly political discussion (okay, mostly friendly…sometimes we have to put Carl from sales in his place)
  • Excellent verbal and superior written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel
  • An eye for design to create engaging social media and web posts
  • Technologically competent
  • Creative, outside-the-box style of thinking
  • Highly driven and self-motivated (we don’t like to micro-manage)
  • Excellent understanding of major social media platforms and an idea of how to speak to those audiences (you will have to market to 20-year-old guys on TikTok AND 35-year-old moms on Facebook)
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with marketing computer software and online applications (e.g. CRM tools, Keyword analytics, and Google Analytics)
  • Familiarity with graphic design programs (Including Adobe Suite, Canva)
  • Familiarity with content marketing best practices
