Grant Writing & Development Intern

Position Description: 
Grant writing and development interns assist the Family Support Center in ensuring that we are up-to-date with our current grants, seeking out new grant and contract opportunities, and ensuring we have the written content to tell our story to funders.
Length of Commitment:
5-10 Hours a Week
May 10th-August 14th
Location of Volunteer Work: 
Remote
Duties: 
  • Learn the basics of grant writing and fundraising to create letters of interest to new foundations or basic grant proposals to small family foundations or corporate applications.
  • Support development needs as they arise, such as support for special events and fundraising events.
  • Write letters of thanks to donors, foundations, and grantors for financial or in-kind gifts.
  • Support donor tracking and record keeping efforts through data entry.
  • Support post-grant writing efforts by collecting data and content for quarterly reports.
  • Create new and original content to support marketing, newsletter, and annual reports with current or past clients to document their stories and share our program successes.
  • Work to identify new funding resources through grants research.
  • Help develop new promotional content including Facebook posts that tell of the organization’s mission, work and successes, and provide resources and information for parents and families.
  • Help to generate new organization photo images for use in agency publications and on the website, including the securing of photo release forms from clients.
  • Bring your new ideas, energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and story-telling abilities.
Qualifications: 
  • Must have an interest in prospect research and writing grants
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and confidential information

Marketing and Community Engagement Internship

Position Description: 
This position assists the Family Support Center in marketing and engagement for the agency. This position could involve creation and engagement on social media, networking, community engagement, tracking, reporting, and more duties as needed.
Length of Commitment:
5 -10 Hours a Week
May 10th – August 14th
Location of Volunteer Work: 
Remote and/or In-Person in Salt Lake County
Requirements:
  • 18+ Years of Age
  • Proficient Computer Knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Data Management Systems)
  • Proficient Social Media Knowledge (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
Duties: 
  • Support development needs as they arise, such as support for special events and fundraising events.
  • Connecting with potential donors, foundations, and grantors for financial or in-kind gifts.
  • Create new and original content to support marketing for FSC.
  • Help develop new promotional content including social media posts that tell of the organization’s mission, work, successes, and provide resources and information for parents and families.
  • Help to generate images for use in agency publications and on the website, including the securing of photo release forms from clients.
  • Bring your new ideas, energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and story-telling abilities.
  • And other duties as assigned.
