This intern will assist in the creation, maintenance and review of record collection work orders (travelers) that are used to generate and track indexing projects in the operations pipeline. Their conscientious contributions will improve the experience of FamilySearch patrons by increasing the quality and quantity of available records. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to see how principles and practices learned in their educational institutions can be applied to a fast-paced, results-oriented work setting.

This position is primarily for educational or religious purposes, and should be used to enhance personal and professional experiences for the Intern. Under general supervision, the Intern performs work as assigned by the department.

Location: Downtown Salt Lake City (Church Headquarters)

Position will be part-time (28 hours a week or less), up to one-year

Pay: $15 per hour; no benefits

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support worldwide homeland operation team in meeting delivery schedules of internal, partner and commercially indexed vital records.
  • Analyze data and images and report quality outcomes
  • Assist in the creation and writing of new travelers (work orders), and other documents that move and track work in the FamilySearch workflow.
  • Attend required meetings and provide reports on assigned tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Desired skills include:

  • Excellent data analysis and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in the use of Excel and Word software programs.
  • The ability to read, transcribe, and evaluate hand-written documents is desirable, but not required.
  • Experience with FamilySearch indexing is preferred, but is not required.

Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation.  They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.

WORTHINESS QUALIFICATION

Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
